RETURN TO SIN - HOW DOES GOD VIEW IT?
II Peter 2:20-22
God has always hated sin.
God has always punished sin.
God gave every man an escape from punishment (Jesus).
I John 2:1-2.
Propitiation for the world.
Advocate only for his own.
Let's notice how God has viewed sin in the past.
King Saul (I Samuel 15).
Lord said to utterly destroy Amalekites.
Saul acted on his own.
God rent kingdom from him.
Repented God that He had made Saul king.
God counted rebellion as SIN.
We are to destroy sin.
Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5).
The money belonged to them.
No one forced them to give.
Their sin was:
Deceit - before men.
Lying - to God.
God counted deceit as SIN.
Do we try to decieve God?
By offering excuses for:
Not attending every service.
Not helping others.
Not putting God first.
Do we lie to God by:
Saying we didn't have time for doing good.
Saying (by action) that we gave of our prosperity.
Israel's Children (Numbers 14 - 21:4-9).
Wandered 40 years in wilderness because of SIN.
Spies sent to Canaan (Ch. 14)
8 negative, 2 positive (Joshua & Caleb).
Jehovah - "I will smite them" (They do not believe in me).
Children made to wander (Rebellion).
Ch. 16 Korah rebels (Rebellion).
Ch. 21 Fiery serpents (Rebellion).
God views disobedience as SIN.
Punished because of constant complaining.
Christians Today (II Peter 2:20-22).
Raised from death of SIN (Ephesians 2:1).
Know ways of God.
Hebrews 10:19ff. Trod underfoot Son of God.
Dog eats own vomit.
Washed sow wallows in the mud.
Have you not counted God's word as authority as Saul?
Have you been deceitful as were Ananias & Sapphria?
Do you complain because of the course God chose to send you on? As children of Israel did?
Have you turned to partake of the corruption you put off when you became a Christian?
