THE REALITY OF OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST
We often feel inhibited in our service to Christ because we fail to see what we really have.
It is difficult to share what you do not feel you have.
Example: It is difficult to give $500.00 to someone when you only have $20.00.
In this lesson, let's try to find the answer to our lack of security that
inhibits our sharing our lives and the gospel with others.
BEGINNING THE RELATIONSHIP.
Jesus must be a relationship that we are in, not just a position.
Jesus taught a message.
We are baptized INTO Christ - Galatians 3:27.
Makes us sons - Gal. 3:26.
Makes us free in Christ - Gal. 3:28.
We belong to Christ - Gal. 3:29.
Close relationship - "ABBA" - Gal. 4:6.
Makes us heirs - Gal.4:7.
The relationship begins with commitment.
Acts 2:37-47; 6:7; 8:30-39; 9:17-22.
WHAT COMES FROM THIS RELATIONSHIP?
Headship - v. 9
Operation - v. 10-11.
Raised - v. 12.
Forgiveness - v. 13.
Freedom from a law of works - v. 14.
Victory - v. 15.
WHY IS A RELATIONSHIP MORE VALUABLE THAN A POSITION?
Because of its motivation.
Example: Business owner gets more involved in his business than an employee - REASON: Owner - relational - Employee - positional.
Example: Husband gets more involved with his family than with another - REASON - His family is relational and the other is positional.
Relate to Christianity.
Because of its benefits.
Position brings the "Have To" spirit.
Relation brings the "Want To" spirit.
People who have to be coaxed constantly are positional in Christ.
People who serve anyway, anywhere or anytime are generally relational.
Is your relationship with the Lord real?
Is it a position which you fill or a relationship you enjoy?
What are you going to do about it?
