MATERIALISM
INTRODUCTION:
The world has a quest for financial gain and things.
Advertisements revolve around these:
Products are sold.
Careers are promoted.
Con artist thrive on our basic lust for riches and things.
Example: Get rich quick schemes.
Example: Something for nothing sales promotions.
Materialism is the final line between desire and lust for more.
In this lesson let's discuss some Biblical concepts about the subject of materialism.
RICHES ARE NOT SINFUL.
There were rich people in the Bible:
Job - Job 1:1-3; 42:10-15.
Abraham - Genesis 13:1-2.
Jacob - Genesis 30:43.
Solomon - I Kings 10:14-29.
Materialism is a road block.
Matthew 6:19-34.
Matthew 19:16-24.

Food and clothing are the necessities.
Wealth can be a trap - v. 9.
Money makes a poor friend - v. 10.

Do not be arrogant - v. 17a.
Do not put your hope in wealth - v. 17b.

God provides for pleasure - v. 17d.
Use wealth for good purposes - v. 18.
