Hebrews 10:23-25 - we are to encourage others toward...
II Timothy 3:16-17 - God gives us what we need.
NOTE: "Good Works" are people centered, not just religious.
In this study we will look at the topic of "Good Works" and see what we can learn from
God's perspective about this subject and then better know how to encourage each other.
GOOD WORKS HAVE OUTWARD MANIFESTATIONS.
Matthew 5:16 - "Let your light so shine..."
I Timothy 2:10 - (women) - inner spirit, not clothing.
I Timothy 5:25 - "...cannot be hidden..."
I Peter 2:12 - can cause pagans to glorify God.
CHARACTERISTICS OF GOOD WORKS.
Submissive - Romans 13:3; Titus 3:1.
Fruitful - Colossians 1:10.
Pattern - Example - Titus 2:7.
Zealous - Titus 2:14.
Must be maintained - Titus 3:8.
Provide daily needs.
Demands a "life" cleansing - II Timothy 2:21.
(NEGATIVE): Titus 1:16.
GOOD WORKS ILLUSTRATED FROM THE NEW TESTAMENT.
I Tim. 3:1 - Leading the church.
I Tim. 5:10.
Bringing up children.
Washing the feet of the saints.
Helping those in trouble.
I Tim. 6:18.
Generous; Willing to share.
II Corinthians 9:8 - in regard to giving.
Acts 9:36 - Dorcas.
Robes, clothing; spirit of devotion to that church.
Mark 14:6 - woman - prepared Jesus' body for burial.
John 10:32-33 - Miracles of Jesus - (to help them).
To be a doer of "Good Works" one must wrap his life up in people, not doctrine.
Good works are the point of our "new creation" or new life.
God has given us many examples of "Good works" to follow.
Are you "doing good?"
Are you encouraging others to do good?
