PUTTING FIRST THINGS FIRST
Expository: Acts 2:42
The setting of a priority is most important in any phase of life.
Example: Ladies baking a cake, mixing ingredients.
Without priorities there is no correct sequence of events in life.
Without priorities work will only be in spurts.
These same things are true in reference to the Kingdom of God.
I Peter 4:1-6.
Today, let's discuss from a Biblical standpoint PUTTING FIRST THINGS FIRST.
THE KINGDOM IS TO BE FIRST IN TIME.
We say, "I just don't have time..." when we are asked to serve or to do something.
Something has more demand on our time than God does.
Job, sports, family, recreation, etc.
We must place the Kingdom first in our time.
Time to take God seriously.
Time to be "real" church members and quit playing church.
Time to fulfill our individual responsiblity to God.
Matthew 28:18-20 - preach.
Time for righteousness --- removing sin from the camp.
Time to be bold and not fearful.
THE KINGDOM IS TO BE FIRST IN PLACE.
I want to be in the place where the citizens of the kingdom are.
Why do we have a problem with some missing the assembly --- they have some place they would rather be.
Take your place of discipleship.
Jesus is the Shepherd - we are the sheep - John 10.
Jesus is Lord, Master - we are His slaves - Acts 2:36.
Jesus is King - we are His subjects - Revelation 1:5.
Our lives must revolve around Jesus.
Take your place in STEWARDSHIP.
You give to what is important to you.
Worldly organizations, movies, pleasure, etc.
These are not wrong unless given priority over the Kingdom.
It takes money for a church to grow - we must realize this and act upon it.
THE KINGDOM IS TO BE FIRST IN IMPORTANCE.
Whatever is most important to you will be what you are devoted to.
Is it important to you to lead?
God needs more capable leaders.
Is it important to you to follow?
A disciple is a follower.
Is it important to you to work?
God's plan includes ALL of us working.
Is it important to you to plan?
We will never accomplish until we plan and work our plan.
What is our greatest problem in the church today? Is it that we are not putting the Kingdom first?
Repentance involves a change and a beginning.
