THE WORD OF GOD FROM
THE EYES OF A TEACHER
Expository: Acts 2:42
There are many ways to view God's Word.
As a teacher, there are many things to consider.
As teachers, there are heavy responsibilities placed upon us as communicators.
This lesson lets us try and see from the eyes of a teacher how God's Word must be taught.
TEACHING MUST BE "PEOPLE CENTERED" AND "BIBLE BASED."
II Timothy 3:10-17.
Note: "from whom..."
Jewish boys began a formal study at age 5.
Grandmother - Lois; Mother - Eunice - II Tim. 1:5.
Role Modeling is as important as Scripture.
I Timothy 4:11-16 - "...see..."
Scripture is not enough.
John 1:14 - Jesus became flesh...
TEACHING MUST BE CLEAR.
Jesus' parables - to make clear.
Example: Luke 8:1-15 - parable of the sower.
Nehemiah 8:1-8 - Ezra gave the sense...
Good communication is the key.
Words are powerful - Genesis 1 - "God spoke..."
Jesus used simple language to teach complete thoughts.
How communication works:
Idea - what you think.
Message - what you actually say.
Understanding - what you actually heard.
Feedback - what the teacher heard from you as you heard it.
TEACHING MUST BE RELEVANT.
Must meet needs.
Needs must be known to be met.
"Issue teaching and preaching only promotes more confusion.
Common problems that we must address: STRESS.
We must have a concerned, caring ministry.
TEACHING MUST BE EXCITING.
The Bible centers on HOPE, not on death.
We are to have a celebration, not a funeral.
It helps me define my needs.
It helps meet my needs.
It gives me hope and assurance.
It gives me the "want to to want to."
It gives me a pattern to live by.
Teaching must be people centered and Bible Based.
Teaching must be relevant.
Teaching must be exciting.
