THE DEVIL MOVES INTO AN EMPTY HOUSE
Context: Matthew 12:22-42
Healing of a demon possessed man - V. 22-23.
The challenge of the Pharisees - v. 24.
Jesus' response - v. 25-37.
The principle: You cannot clean out the bad without replacing it with good.
"A life reformed but lacking God's presence is open to re-occupancy by evil."
We often try to "clean out" the bad in our lives without "re-filling" them with good.
This principle is taught throughout the New Testament.
In this lesson, let's explore some areas where this principle is expressed.

How you learned Christ - v. 20-21.
Putting off and putting on - v. 22-32.

Put to death - (put off) - v. 5-11.
Clothe yourselves - (put on) - v. 12-17.
Trade your enslaved nature (put off) for submission - (put on) - 3:18-4:1.

v. 2 - no righteousness on his own.
Hungers and thirst to be filled - v. 6.
v. 3a - no pride.
v. 3b - mourns his "emptiness" before God.
v. 4a - no "self-power."
v. 4b - will own it all.
Puts off "Mercilessness" and puts on mercy - v. 7.
Puts off "Impure Hearts" and puts on purity - v. 8.
Puts off "Unrest" and puts on peace - (peacemaker) - v. 9.
Puts off the "Persecutor" and puts on persecution - v. 10-12.

Bad Relationships - (friendships)
If you have "emptied" your house of Satan you must refill it with good.
Are you trying to "put off" without "putting on?"
