I thought, "What message could I bring to a community of people who have assembled together here today?"
Acts 2 is a record of such an event.
Passover celebrated each year - (Day after Christ died - John 19:31)
People came from afar.
50 days after the Passover was PENTECOST.
Acts 2:1-13 - READ.
Today, let's listen to the sermon that the Apostle Peter preached at their annual gathering.
Peter Preached An INCARNATE Christ - v.22.
Deity took on flesh:
John 1:1-3, 14; Galatians 4:4; Matthew 1:23.
Why did Deity take on flesh?
To bring Satan's power to nothing - Hebrews 2:14.
To become our faithful High Priest - Hebrews 2:17.
To subject Himself to the temptations we have:
Matthew 4:1-4 --- (I John 2:15-17).
To show us the Father - John 14:9; 1:18.
God was interested enough in me that He sent His Son to experience my realm of life.
Peter Preached A CRUCIFIED Christ - v.23.
Not a pre-mature death; did not interrupt God's scheme.
God planned it this way.
John 10:17-18 - "...Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it up again. NO ONE taketh it away from me, but I lay it down myself. I have the power to lay it down, and I have the power to take it again. This commandment received I from my Father."
Jesus' death was Vicarious.
"Serving in the place of another, or instead of someone else; something performed or suffered by someone as a substitute for another, benefiting someone else."
Jesus had no sin - Hebrews 4:15.
Jesus suffered for us:
Isaiah 53:5-6 - "...God hath laid on him the iniquity of us all..."
I Corinthians 15:3 - "...Christ died for our sins..."
Jesus' vicarious death satisfies God's justice - I John 2:2.
We are separated because of SIN - Romans 3:23. (reconciliation is NEEDED).
Jesus' vicarious death PAID our ransom price.
Galatians 3:13 - "Christ redeemed us from the curse..."
Peter Preached A Resurrected Christ - v.24.
Proved Him to be Deity - Romans 1:4.
We will be raised:
I Corinthians 15:20.
Peter Preached An Ascended Christ - v.33.
Gives Assurance of Salvation - Hebrews 6:17-20.
Peter Preached Jesus Lord and Christ - v.36.
I have heard what I must believe, "What Must I Do?"
