Luke 10:30-35 - Man was beaten on road from Jerusalem to Jericho.
Priest saw him -- passed by on other side.
Levite saw him -- passed by on other side.
Samaritan saw him, had compassion, bound his wounds, brought him to the inn, paid his bill.
Kindness at his own expense and pride.
Garment of FORGIVENESS
Luke 17:1-4 - Forgiveness is not holding him to it the rest of his life.
Garment of HUMILITY
Philippians 2:1-8 - "(5) Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus: (6) who being in the form of God, thought it not to be robbery to
be equal with God: (7) But made himself of no reputation, and took upon the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: (8)
and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."
Garment of GOD'S WORD
Hebrews 4:12 - "For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul
and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart."
II Timothy 3:14-17 - "But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned
them; and that from a child thou hast known the sacred scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is
in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for instruction in righteousness:
that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."
II Timothy 2:15 - "Give diligence to present thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, handling aright the word
Garment of FORBEARANCE (Ephesians 4:2)
Forebear - to refrain from doing; to abstain; to control one's self, put up with something for a while.
Self-control is very necessary.
Especially brethren - keep unity.
Garment of LONG SUFFERING (Colossians 1:11)
Need the patience of Job.
Matthew Ch. 6 & 7 -- God will take care of us.
Garment of STEADFASTNESS
I Corinthians 15:58 - "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as
ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."
We need to fulfill our purpose.
Preach & teach.
Study God's word.
Garment of COMPASSION
Romans 12:15 - "Rejoice with them that rejoice, and weep with them that weep."
Garment of PURITY (Matthew 5:1-12)
Jesus teaches Jews how to be pure.
We are made pure by his BLOOD.
Are you wearing the dress of a christian?
Do you glorify God with your apparel?
Can others tell that you are a christian by observing?
Have you put on CHRIST?
Hear the death, burial & resurrection of Jesus -- Romans 10:17 - came, died, rose, ascended, coming again.
