WHAT DOES THE BIBLE
TEACH ABOUT ASSURANCE?
This is perhaps one of the greatest subjects in the Bible to preach on.
This is the outgrowth of "ALL" of the redemptive plan of God.
Let's look at some passages that portray assurance:
John 3:14-16; 5:24; 6:47; 11:26.
I John 2:25.
Tonight, let's look at what the Bible has to say about ASSURANCE.
The Bible Teaches Assurance By Telling Us That WE CAN KNOW WE ARE SAVED.
I John 5:11-13 (13).
Note: Life is in the Son.
Paul KNEW of his salvation:
II Timothy 4:7-8 - we can also know.
The Bible Teaches Assurance by Telling Us of GOD'S CONTINUING LOVE -- MUCH MORE.
This was an act of love -- but did it stop here?
Romans 5:6-8 - God's love for the SINNER demonstrated.
God's love for the CHRISTIAN - "MUCH MORE".
Romans 5:9, 10, 15, 17.
To say that there is no assurance makes this inconsistent.
The Bible Teaches Assurance by Telling Us of GOD'S PROVIDENCE IN OUR BEHALF.
Our God is working in our behalf -- He's not dead -- He's not just watching the earth run down.
The Bible Teaches Assurance by Telling Us That GOD'S COURT IS IN OUR FAVOR.
II Thessalonians 1:7-9 - Judgment in our favor.
We usually think of God as a tyrant -- not true.
The Bible Teaches Assurance by Telling Us THAT WE ARE A SPECIAL PEOPLE.
v.1 - Special people - "God's Elect" - (hand picked).
II Thessalonians 2:14.
v.2 - Special hope - (desire with expectation).
v.3 - Special message - (Gospel).
v.4 - Special faith - "common" - (just like).
The Bible Teaches Assurance by Telling Us Of OUR SECURITY IN JESUS.
The Bible teaches assurance -- I believe it.
Do you have assurance?
If you were to die tonight, would you spend eternity with God?
